Probably one of the most-awaited films that will be be coming out in 2008, Iron Man features Gwyneth Paltrow, Terrence Howard, and Robert Downey as Tony Stark/Iron Man.
Billionaire Tony Stark, previously one of the world’s most imaginative weapons defense technology creators, decides to retire from weapons manufacture. A powerful competitor attempts to kill Stark, and almost succeeds. To keep himself alive, Stark must build a modern-day suit of armor. He then begins to build more agile and powerful versions of the suit, and uses it to fight crime as the Invincible Iron Man!
Iron Man director Jon Favreau clears things up about who really designed the armor for the movie:
The suit was designed by an artist named Phil Saunders who collaborated with Adi Granov based on the comic art of Granov. It evolved over many months and then was brought to Winston Studios to refine the design in order to build it as a working practical costume. Winston modeled and then fabricated the actual suit. It is difficult to identify a single person as the designer because they each contributed to the final design. The EW article correctly stated, however, that the suit was built by Winston. I hope this helps.
Robert Downey also talks about his Iron man character.
“He’s a superhero who is just a man,” says Downey. “Not that I wouldn’t play a guy who got bit by a spider or who has some freaky connection with bats, but I think this is a little more accessible.

“I guess that when Stan Lee created the character back in the mid-1960s - to see if he could base a superhero on a hard-partying, womanising billionaire who manufactures weapons, and still make him likeable enough to sell comic books - he clearly won his bet.
“Tony Stark is someone who has the ability to be right at the forefront of science and we are finding out more and more nowadays that science and mythology are becoming somewhat interchangeable. Some of the things that seemed really far-fetched aren’t any more.”
